As part of our contextual studies project, we are all to create a book. This book is completely up to us. It doesn't have to be your typical type of book, the different it is the better. As I was researching book art I can across an artist by the name of Brian Dettmer. He is known for detailed and innovated sculptures with books and other forms. Over the past few years he has been established as the leading contemporary artist in the world who works in book art. Here are some of his extraordinary books.

I found his work very inspiring and it has thought me that anything is possible. I was excited when we got the brief, but I was also nervous I have a habit of picking a theme that I don't fully enjoy so for this book I wanted it to be something special. I made endless amounts of mind maps but no idea really appealed to me. It was when I came across this image that I finally decided what I wanted the theme of my book to be about.

My theme was to be about Cities of the world. I have always had a great interest in the big cities around the world and I hope to when I'm finished college is to travel. The themes sorted so I suppose now its back to the mind maps and research about what cities are going to be in the book and what type of book its going to be. :) x
